Nicole Kidman Gets Emotional For Parade Magazine

in Celebrities by Ruben on October 30th, 2008Comments

Nicole Kidman is one of those A-listers who people usually don’t give much credit to. Her life took such a  tumultous turn after her split from Tom Cruise, and for a while there, it looked like her choice in men were never the right ones. Her two adopted childs with Cruise indicated some complications as to being able to give birth to her own child.

With Keith Urban, and at 41, she’s given birth to a beautiful girl and she tells the latest issue of Parade Magazine that she cries tears of joy when thinking about her daughter. “I’m raw and emotional, I suppose I never thought I would get to [give birth to a child]. To have been given it so late in life – I’m so ready for it.” she says.

In regards to Keith Urban’s addiction problems, the stints in rehab, etc, she says:

“We became the closest we could become, because we had to bare our souls. We did 10 years of marriage in three months. You go to hell and back with this – when the addiction takes control of the life, it’s terrifying. But there is hope, and we work on it every day, and we are in a place of actual peace right now, which is a beautiful place.”

Here’s footage of Madonna introducing a song to her audience asking if they knew anyone who was emotionally retarded, adding “God knows I do” getting a little jab at her soon-to-be ex-hubby, Guy Richie. Oh the stupid things people say when falling out of love!

The fans in attendance at the concert had no complaints, however, saying she delivered a “stellar performance.” Well, good for her!

Due to the continued success of the teen drama, Gossip Girl, keeps getting more and more episodes.

Two weeks ago, the season was already extended from 22 to 24 and now the CW has informed executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage that it wants to add one more for a grand total of 25 episodes (for now).

Sources also confirm that two additional episodes of One Tree Hill and 90210 are in place, extending both shows’ seasons to 24 episodes apiece.

One Tree Hill has on the CW for 6 years now, and continues to succeed with high ratings, posting double-digit gains over last season and “consistently building on its Gossip lead in”

As for 90210, despite the initial bad reviews, the show has proved itself worthy of staying on TV and become a hit with its target audience of young females.

‘Quantum of Solace’ Wins James Bond Fans Back

in Movies/TV, Reviews by Carolina on October 30th, 2008Comments

Thousands of fans faced the cold weather in London’s Leicester Square on Wednesday night to watch celebrities, including Princes William and Harry, arrive on the red carpet for the world premiere of the latest James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace , the 22nd in the franchise.

Naturally, security was super tight and no one was allowed to even carry a cellphone out of fear that they might record scenes from the film and leak them on the Internet.

Reviews, so far, have been mixed.

Geoffrey McNab wrote in the London Independent that the film “doesn’t seem like a major entry in the Bond canon. Well under two hours long, it’s shorter and more frenetic than most of its predecessors, and an often-jolting experience to watch. Loose ends about. What it does have, though, above all, is vigor. The franchise hasn’t run out of juice quite yet.”

Peter Bradshaw described it in the Guardian as “a crash-bang Bond, high on action, low on quips, long on location glamour, short on product placement.”

Daily Mirror critic David Edwards remarked that the movie “doesn’t feel like a Bond film at all. Not once does Craig say “The name’s Bond. James Bond.” There’s no Q or his gadgets. Heck, we even see Bond in a cardigan. There are no risque quips or arched eyebrows.” He concluded “It doesn’t disappoint - just don’t expect the brilliance of Casino Royale.”

I think that after 22 Bond movies, it must be rather difficult to continue impressing audiences, especially in our digital age of CGI and ‘Transformer-esque’ type of action.

Do people have unrealistic expectations?

Selena Gomez To Become a Hollywood Star

Disney execs sure know how to capitalize on young stars. First there was Hilary Duff’s 2003 The Lizzie MCGuire Movie, then Miley Cyrus‘ Hannah Montana insanity, and now, Selena Gomez. Her hit TV series, Wizards of Waverly Place, which thrust her into fame, is being adapted for the big screen.

It’s not surprize that 16-year-old Selena would want Shia LaBeouf to star as her leading man. She’s recently expressed how cute he thinks she is.

She tells MTV,

You’d think that as much as I promote it (he’d be coming on). I’m, like, begging, but it’s not happening. I know I’m a nerd! Please, Shia, come on my show!”

Cancer Rumors Piss Off Cher

in Celebrities by Carolina on October 30th, 2008Comments

Earlier this month, the almighty Cher canceled two performances at the Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace - her final dates of the year. When this happened, naturally, rumors began to arise as to what would prevent the singer to finish what she started.

One of the rumors was that a serious ailment , namely cancer, had struck her and that Cher wanted to deal with it privately. Her publicist, Liz Rosenberg, however, was quick to shoot down those silly reports insisting she was unable to sing due to a sore throat.
Cher says,

My health is great but there’s a wind thing that blows there (in Las Vegas) at different months and I have an allergy to it. If I had cancer everyone would know it. I wouldn’t tell them, but somebody would. When you have those kind of things happen if you’re famous you can’t keep them a secret.

(The reports) don’t make me angry. People have been saying the weirdest things since I was a teenager.

Some attacks by the soulless media are simply as low as they come, lower than scum if you ask me. Why must people speculate on every reason a star has for doing a specific thing? Let them be, man…and if she’s sick, even more of a reason to stay out of her hair.
