People from around town made a pit stop to see for themselves how powerful the two Bat Vehicles really are. It was a comedy showdown at the box office this weekend, but Steve Carell has proven to beat out Mike Myers as the funny man in town.
Warner Brothers' Get Smart opened number 1 in the box office with an estimated $39.2 million in domestic ticket sales. Mr. Carell can sleep easy knowing this was his best opening weekend for any film he's been the lead in.

It was a karate-filled premiere weekend at the box office as Dreamworks' "Kung Fu Panda" duked it out with Adam Sandler's "You Don't Mess With The Zohan." At the end of their first weekend, Zohan couldn't mess with the Panda.
The moviegoers wanted to hear Jack Black as a panda who longs for martial arts glory, giving the DreamWorks Animation comedy $60 million. They were only hoping for a $40 million opening, so distributor Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks can celebrate.

It looks like The Hobbit is going to come to life thanks to director Guillermo del Toro and executive producer Peter Jackson.
New Line Cinema announced on Thursday that the director of Pan's Labyrinth and the upcoming Hellboy II: The Golden Army will direct the film and its sequel. These movies are all tied into the Lord of the Rings trilogy, so it's back to New Zealand for four years to recreate Middle-Earth, where the films will be shot back-to-back.

Disney keeps expanding its media kingdom, this time with nature documentaries.
The Walt Disney Co. said on Monday that it is launching a new film label entitled Disneynature which will be focused on making wildlife and enviromental movies to be released in theaters starting in 2009 with "Earth."

Yes, it is true, the fourth Austin Powers movie is starting it's search for the next leading lady to play opposite Mike Myers for the new spy comedy.

April 4th, 2008. Beverly Hills, CA. We caught up with Ashton Kutcher and Anne Heche while they were filming a scene for their upcoming movie "Spread" due out in 2009.
The movie, a sex comedy, is basically about a serialized womanizer, Nicki (played by Kutcher) and his jilted lover, Samantha (played by Heche). The shoot took place outside Lisa Kline on Robertson Blvd. in Beverly Hills.
