James Bond Needs A New Aston Martin

Trouble struck the set of the new James Bond movie, The Quantum of Solace, on Sunday when a stunt man accidentally drove 007’s Aston Martin DBS into an Italian lake.

Lake Garda in Northern Italy received some heavy rainfall on Sunday morning causing the car to fly off the edge of the road and fall 30 feet to its watery peril. What a pity! The $250,000 car sank 150 feet after floating at the surface for about a minute. Luckily, the stunt man, Fraser Dunn, managed to get out of the crushed car and swim ashore where he was then taken to a nearby hospital.

As the car was being fished out of the lake by a crane, People stated, “The front of the car was heavily damaged by the impact with the metal guard rail and the right hand side of the car looked like it had been grated against a wall … When it came out of the water, hooked up to the crane it looked like one giant black wet sock. Water kept pouring out of it.”

The project had been filming there all week with no problems, but now they’re down one stunt driver, who was diagnosed with a trauma to the chest. The first 11 minutes of the feature is a ” breathtaking car chase through Limone, Tremosine and Malcesine [Italy].” Quatum of Solace is expected to be released later this year.
