Disney/Pixar’s Movie Schedule Through 2012

Disney/Pixar released their schedule of all the upcoming animated features that will be showing in theaters through 2012. First of all, you should know that all future Disney/Pixar films, starting with the release of Bolt later this year will be presented in Disney Digital 3-D. OOH! How exciting!

First on the list is 2009’s May 29th release of Up. The story follows a 78-year-old man who wishes he would have spent his life exploring and finding all the excitement, until he meets an 8-year-old wilderness explorer and sends them on a “thrilling journey where the unlikely pair encounter wild terrain, unexpected villains and jungle creatures,” states IGN.

By Christmas of ‘09 you will be seeing a traditionally animated fairy tale, The Princess and the Frog. It’s set in New Orleans with an adventure full of frogs, a singing alligator, of course voodoo, and songs by Randy Newman.

The third installment of the Toy Story features is going to debut June 18, 2010, with all of the original voices being brought back for your enjoyment. I’m actually really excited for that!

Repunzel is going to be making it’s first Disney appearance as a feature around Christmas of 2010 in a stunning CG fantasy world with it’s iconic tower, evil witch, good-lookin hero, and our damsel in distress with her long lockes.

2011 will bring us two features, Newt in the Summer and The Bear and the Bow at Christmas. Newt is about the last two blue-footed newts on the planet being forced to mate to save the species, but the two can’t stand each other. The Bear and the Bow is about Merida, a daughter of royalty who would rather be the best archer. She struggles to set things right after she unleashes peril on the kingdom and her parents.

In the summer of 2012 we will see the return of Lightening McQueen and Mater in Cars 2. It’s going to be set around the world as they face new competition, thrills and laughs. As for the Christmas release, King of the Elves follows a common man who helps a group of desperate elves and they name him their king. He soon finds himself in a dangerous journey that makes his life meaningfull again as he takes on an evil troll.

And there you have it! All you Disney fans are in for a real treat the next 4 years, I hope you’re ready for it!
