Angelina Jolie Focuses On Education In Iraq

Angelina Jolie spent her Monday night presenting awards with First Lady Laura Bush for civilians’ outstanding humanitarian efforts.

Angie’s biggest award went to her friend, and also character study from A Mighty Heart, Mariane Pearl, the wife of deceased journalist Daniel Pearl for outstanding leadership. I had no idea that the two were actually friends, or as Angie put it, “sisters.” They even spent the day together with their children, Maddox, Pax, and Adam

More importantly on the actress/mother’s agenda was to promote her latest effort, education for the Iraqi children. Jolie told the Council on Foreign Relations on Tuesday, “Every child has a right to education and conflict is not a reason to ignore that.”

The 32-year-old actress has traveled to more than 20 humanitarian hot spots since becoming a goodwill ambassador in 2001, and now she has a new task at hand. She is going to help the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict with telling the stories of the children in need to the world and helping charity organization make the most impact.

I can’t believe that this wild child, and former Billy-Bob Thorton wife, has become such a powerfull figure in the world. She may be the next Oprah, only not a talk show host.
