The King Vs. Mariah and Madonna

Madonna and Mariah Carey have some very good new at the expense of Elvis Presley. Both ladies have made chart history, Mariah for most No. 1 singles by a solo artist, and Madonna for the most Top 10 hits of Billboard’s Hot 100 knocking the King from his throne.

Mariah’s new single, Touch My Body from her new album E=MC2 jumped 14 spots to give the diva her 18th number 1.Carey passed Presley as “Touch My Body,” the lead single from her new E=MC2, leapt 14 spots, giving the singer her 18th No. 1. She had tied Elvis in 2005 with her comeback The Emancipation of Mimi with her back-to-back chart-toppers “We Belong Together” and “Don’t Forget About Us.” Now she just has to get two more to tie the Beatles.

And now on to Madonna’s accomplishments. There’s the Top 10 singles category which has been tied between the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll and the Queen of Pop since 2005, but now Madonna has taken the lead with the release of her new single, “4 Minutes.” The single jumped 65 spots to number 3 this week which gave her 37 top 10 hits, and hound dog is left cryin with 36.

Fortunately for Elvis fans, the King still has his glory with the most total weeks at No. 1. His hits withstood a total of 80 weeks during his three-decade career, but that might be over too, seeing as Mariah is closing in fast at 78 weeks

Look for Mariah’s E=MC2 coming out April 15, while the Material One’s Hard Candy drops two weeks later. There’s gonna be some cat fights over sales, no doubt. Who do you want to be more successfull?
